The Cheapers

Biography

In the early 90’s Fraenzen Texas and Ruede Hagelsteinmeet in a youth club in the suburbs of Berlin. Like many others before them they soon flead the tristesse of Berlin rural area to be closer to the night- life of the freshly unified city.
The village discos could not still the craving for clubmusic like the E-Werk or the Tresor delivered. Not to mention the huge culture slots that developed everywhere- especially in the east part of town, in which youth boosted their own – later known as berlins unique techno sound. Of course they had to go into town to breathe the electrified air. Here the two started to work by the Flyer Magazine (one of the important crosspoints of the musicscene) for a long time and developed their own dj- personalities on after hours and organized their own parties in wild “off” locations. In the meantime they prefer to play together and concerning their beards it could be possible that they will be held for the Berlin Wighnomy Brothers!? Both are residents in the Watergate Club and regularly playing the Bar 25. There where their friends are and where they are happy to see that the two of them are finally producing music together as The Cheapers.
