Even though one of the Re-Up boys lives in Spain and the other lives in Italy, they still manage to keep their joint music project up and running. Their latest project for Upon You, where they both feel at home by now, will be an exclusive release for the digital market. We have 4 tracks that all have the typical Re-Up edge to them. In “Da Boom” we have subtile bass lines that melt into hypnotic percussion with some humanoid voices that you are sure to recognize from their musical portfolio. ”Journey” has a wicked little synth-line that will eat away at the techno fans empty guts, while “Pierre Et Le Loop” nonchalantly comes around the corner to make everything better again with his soft spacial sounds that shimmer through the intricate sound framework. We conclude with “As We Like”, which like the other three, makes you want to get out your dancing shoes and go for it like you’re going for Olympic gold.
We would like to welcome Deep'a & Biri to Upon You Records. These two up and coming young producers from Israel have sent us three Jackin` House tracks, which we know you will enjoy. We'd had an eye on them for a while after hearing their tracks that they released for Kammer, Trapez and Rotary Cocktail, all the better that they now have another platform for their darker house style. On A1 we have “Barzilay Groove” a track that is dedicated to the club in Tel Aviv where Deep'a is a resident and salutes the vibrant energy of the city. B1 is wilder and more psychedelic; Deep'a & Biri made a gem called “Emergence” that subtly pushes itself forward then rolls over everything in its path. ”Hova” on B2 keeps the mystical suspense level up where it should be, and adds a bouncier Tom-groove to round things off perfectly. Shalom!
Following two such endeavors last year, Berlin label UPON.YOU returns with its third label night in collaboration with Panoramabar, bringing in special guest Steve Lawler from the UK for his first appearance at the infamous club. Also naturally on the lineup are label co-founders Marco Resmann and Marcus Meinhardt, joined by UPON.YOU affiliates Ruede Hagelstein (half of The Cheapers) and Empro.
Steve Lawler first entered the dance music scene in the beginning of the 00s, and in just a few years became one of the UK’s top DJ/producers. While many lumped him into the UK’s progressive house scene, his sound tends to be much more raw, and certainly more diverse: an impressively wide variety of respected labels have released his work, including R&S, Rekids, Ovum, Drumcode, Systematic and most recently his own Viva Music.
Now starting its fourth year of existence, UPON.YOU was founded by Resmann (a.k.a. Phage, also member of Luna City Express and formerly of Pan-Pot), Meinhardt and Hawks Grunert and in almost no time found support from both DJs the press world alike. The label pushes the boundaries of what “tech-house” can sound like, and they have gained many followers not just from their quality 12” releases, but also their legendary Home Sweet Home party series. The combination of UPON.YOU’s talent and Panoramabar’s excessive atmosphere will undoubtedly make for an unforgettable night (and morning)!
