“Salome” is not only the A1 track of the new Upon You Single from Channel X, it’s also the title of a famous oriental Foxtrott composed in 1920 by Robert Stolz. There’s not much Foxtrott left from Channel X in the year 2011, therefore the modern artists are squinting into the orient to get the inspiration for the occidental club-madness. Our successful collaboration with Berghain continues into 2011 with the latest Upon You Label Night, this time welcoming two Panorama Bar virgins to make their timely debuts. Mendo from Geneva got his start on George Morel’s Groove On back in 1994 as both a producer and label partner. These days he’s a member of the Cadenza crew, releasing on their label and repped by their booking agency. Mendo was the #4 most charted producer on Resident Advisor in 2010, and his DJ are equally in demand. Our second guest of honor is Timid Boy from Paris, who began his career as Rex Club resident DJ in 2003. Since then this shy guy became editor of Trax magazine and began producing his own music, which has appeared on a slew of labels such as Tuning Spork, Darkroom Dubs and AMAM. Aside from that, he runs his own imprint called Time Has Changed with his buddy Acumen, and the two are set to release a collaborative EP on Upon You in the coming months. Rounding out our night’s lineup is ONNO, visiting from Amsterdam – known for his work on Upon You as well as Souvenir and Little Mountain – along with local support from Upon You co-founder Marcus Meinhardt.
Aaah lovely dovely, it’s that time of year again, the snow is melting, the hung over Upon You creatures crawl back to the office and present you the annual Home Sweet Home Compilation for your listening and dancing pleasure. Yep, this years HSH New Years Rave at the Arena/Treptow in Berlin has ringed in 2011 and this year we have invited some DJ and producer friends from Berlin that are playing at the party to contribute to the compilation too! The lovely Frenchmen Shonky who has played at a few of our shindigs since moving to Berlin and is known for his funky techno style has even named his track on A1 „Madame Moustache“, how very sweet! Snapping at his heels on B2 is our good friend from way up north (maybe he knows Santa) and also a Berlin resident Agaric with his kicking track „After it all“ which we are very pleased about. The flipside features some of our homies Jens Bond and Tigerskin with a furious track on B1 followed by N!co Stojan our little Bar 25 flirt with a nice melodic house track on A2 to round things off nicely.
Agaric and his We Are imprint have been standing for beautifully unpretentious dance music for quite some years now.
