Our Danish foreign affairs correspondent Mathias Mesteño has returned after an extensive visit to the Chicago Soundscapes. As to be expected, he managed to sneak a suitcase full of classic house tracks through customs and they are on their way to appear on the latest Upon You releases. Mesteño's crafty little fingers have combined three decades of musical history with samples and inspiration, long breaks and warm kick drums turning them into modern club tracks. “Buckskin” has pounded itself on to A1 with its dusty boiler beats, while “El Mestengo” proudly grooves itself on B1. Our Chicago expert proves that he's fearless with “Bareback” on B2 and once again infects us with the cure resistant House virus.
After his successful remix for Shur-I-Kan on Freerange, Mathias Mesteño makes his debut release on Jimpster's imprint with a monster package. This man can turn out the toughest, rawest tech house with apparent ease but is equally adept at crafting beautifully deep and intricate yet stripped back house music the likes of which you are about to enjoy on this release. “Teething” kicks things off and sets the bar high with a 12 minute fusion of tough disco beats, deep rolling bass line and, in the second half of the track, the moodiest of moody chords. “Dikrolled” is up next and the tempos are dropped as we’re treated to a lesson in deep and dubby house tailor made for warming up the vibes during the early doors. Finally, “Inbetween” is a jazz-spattered, loopy house track laced with summer sunshine and general good feelings all round.
Onno was busy releasing his first debut EPs on our Upon. You imprint, while Ali and Basti from Tiefschwarz were carefully hand-selecting tracks which would fit perfectly with their Souvenir imprint. The result, are two must-play originals and two brilliant remixes by Daniel Sanchez and Santé. Well done!
If it says “Trouble” on it, you know that it’s going to be intense inside. Marcus Meinhardt has the bow strings pulled tight and is aiming for the techno heart of the dance floor with his latest release for Upon. You on A1. The arrow subtly touches the souls of the crowd, making Eros faint with jealousy in front of the DJ booth. The B side's “Restart” a track form deep within the techno-boiler goes in the same hypnotic direction, to a place where the night's haze rises above the heads into the sky and is carried by exalted hands.
Check out ONNO's remix for Robert X and Los Suruba. It's out now on Suruba X 004 and available to download on Beatport! Vinyl will be released soon…
Upon. You & Home Sweet Home Session will join the Milan Fashion Week! After some succesful bookings and unforgettable nights at Privat Party last year, the Italian crew has organized something special for the upcoming weekend. Marco Resmann, Marcus Meinhardt and The Cheapers are ready to rock all the fashion victims! Don't miss it!
Friday, the 23rd of April marks the return of our labelshowcase Chapeau!. After a successful debut last year, our party has turned into a recurring night at Arena Club and is now in its fifth edition. Aside from our very own Marco Resmann and Marcus Meinhardt, we have selected some special guest DJs for this installment.
In 2010 alone, Belgium’s Ramon Tapia has released a full-length on Great Stuff, an EP for Strictly Rhythm and first joined our clan with two successful remixes of Resmann’s “Sao Paolo Lights”. Channel X have released two EPs with Upon You and are gearing up for the release of their debut album “X-Files” in May with Stil Vor Talent. Finally, Daniel Steinberg (AKA Harry Axt) of Front Room Recordings rounds out the lineup for another unforgettable evening. Hats off!

ONNO already proved to us just what he was capable of brewing together in his Amsterdam sound kitchen on the last Home Sweet Home compilation with the track “Common Sense”. And because it was so great there’s a remix of “Common Sense” from David Labeij on this release. Groove magazine has compared him to Frankfurt’s Funkyness, his magic cauldron is filled with a perfect concoction of rolling bass lines, sneaky vocal snippets simmering in a sauce of percussive beats. ”The Boy Who Drank Too Much” makes no exception, everything is exact and to the point and with one goal in mind,-to groove. “My Dad Lives In A Downtown Motel” shows us that he knows where to place an instrumental disco roll so that it ends up on every DJ’s menu. For those that still haven’t had their fill of ONNO’s digital delicacies, “Bagels Are Fresh” is sure to cure your appetite, at least for now!
Our great Dane Mathias Mesteño has done a remix for Shur-I-Kan on Jimpster's Freerange imprint. Watch out for his upcoming full EP on Freerange! We're more than proud about this.
