Interview

How did you get in touch with Upon You Records?

I've known Marco Resmann for a while, and I always wanted to send him some music as I like the label a lot. I had those 10 tracks I made last year and passed him a CD just to have a feedback without thinking one second any of them would fit to the label. So I was really happy and surprised when he offered me a release. I also recently joined the Upon You booking agency and moved my studio on their floor. So I am sure the collaboration has just started now. I really like the crew, hard workers and really cool people.

Let us know a bit more about your musical history...

It goes way back... I had one of my my first releases in 1995 on Re Load Rec, a techno label where I released a lot of music. At the time I was really into the Detroit sound and had tons of EPs on labels like R&S, Pure Plastic, Rotation, Müller to name only a few. I even worked with Detroit legend James Pennington on the Suburban Knight project (for the old guys who know) and released with him an album with Peacefrog amongst other things. A few years back I met Marcus Vector and we started our label Toys For Boys where we released our music. We started producing together for Dirt Crew, Supplement Facts, Tuning Spork, Contexterrior... I also had solo releases on Tuning and Contexterrior (I was also their label manager for a while).

Tell us a little about the mix. Any special idea behind?

When I make a mix I try to select tracks I really like, to include some friends music and some of my own. I tried to make something that tells a story and for which I think (hope) people will enjoy. I didn't think too much about it, just selected my favourite music of the moment. Of course I couldn't include everything I like or it could be in a 5 hours mix.

What´s next for you? Any recent releases we should be specially aware of?

I just had a release with Serialism with a remix by Mr. Jay Haze, next will be an ep for Nordik Net with remixes by Jin choi and Dixie Yure, then my ep on Upon You with a collaboration with Detroit Grand Pubahs "Paris The Black Fu" and a remix by the great Inxec. Finally 2 tracks will appear on Souvenir Music in June. I also made a few remixes, gave a track to Dialtone, we will release a follow up to the track "Anyone" with Marcus Vector and Jonny Cruz on Toys for boys and of course my new secret project with Cesare Marchese (which won't stay secret for long).
